Obituary for Rocky Alan Hornbeck

ROCKY ALAN HORNBECK, age 67, of Piqua, passed away Thursday April 4, 2019 at 7:55 P.M. in his residence. He was born August 26, 1951 in Dayton, OH to the late Haldane H. and Donna (Furnas) Hornbeck. He married Reita (Cooper) Hornbeck October 1, 1994 in Dayton, OH. She survives.

He is also survived by two sons: Rocky Hornbeck, Jr, Huber Heights, OH, Phillip Hornbeck, Dayton, OH; one daughters: Donna Hornbeck, Tipp City, OH; two step-daughters: Melissa Santiago, Piqua, OH, Debora Bates, Piqua, OH; two brothers: Dan (Phyllis) Hornbeck, Franklin, KY, Ben Hornbeck, Franklin, KY; five sisters: Dian Hefelfinger, Troy, OH, Ruth Collett, Troy, OH, Charlotte (Jerry) Thornton, Paris, KY, Angela (Jason) Weddle, Owenton, KY, Lynne (Gary) Green, Frankfort, KY; eight brothers: Haldane R. (Judy) Hornbeck, Tipp City, OH, Tom Kennedy, Huber Heights, OH, David (Gail) Hornbeck, Monroe, NC, Donald (Phyllis) Hornbeck, Manning, SC, Joel (Diane) Hornbeck, Paris, KY, Matthew (Susan) Hornbeck, MI ; nine grandchildren: Eric (Jessica) Bates, Joshua Jump, Brittany Bates, Jeffrey Santiago, Jarrica Schlorman, Doug Mertz, Jr., Chelsea Hornbeck, Austin Clay, Emily Hornbeck; ten great-grandchildren: Emma Bates, Nevaeh Bates, Ezra Vernon, Sawyer Vernon, Zariah Spear, Josiah Spear, Dakota Baker, Layla Landsidel, Nathan Landsidel, and Ryker Loudermilk. He was preceded in death by one step-daughter: Robin Bates, one brother: John William (Hornbeck) Furnas, one sister: Raenel Fisher.

Rocky was a member of the American Legion Post 586, Tipp City, OH. He was employed in Facilities Maintenance at Springmeade where he retired in 2013. Rocky proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1971 to 1980.

Graveside services will be held Friday April 12, 2019 at 11 A.M. at the Dayton National VA Cemetery with Pastor Lanny Kelley officiating. Full Military Honors will be presented by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 P.M. at Tabernacle of Praise 4285 U.S. State Rt. 40 Tipp City, OH with the Pastor Lanny Kelley officiating.
