CHARLES R. “CHARLEY” PAINTER, age 75, of Piqua, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday January 20, 2019 at 6:00 P.M. at Grandview Medical Center, Dayton, OH. He was born August 6, 1943 in Bradford, OH to the late Cletus and Gladys (Thompson) Painter. He married Jean A. (Wade) Painter November 30, 1991 in Troy, OH. She survives.

He is also survived by two daughters: Michelle & Matt Collett, Piqua, Melissa Cisco, Piqua; two brothers: Don “Donnie” & Judy Painter, Bradford, OH, David & Diane Painter, Bradford, OH; one sister: Deborah & Tom Philipps, Minster, OH; two grandchildren: Tyler & Tiffany Cisco, Piqua, OH, Brayden Shaw, Piqua, OH; and two great-grandchildren: C.J. Shelby, Piqua, OH, Clara Cisco, Piqua, OH. He was preceded in death by one sister: Connie Jay.

Charles graduated from Newton High School in 1961. He attended Grace United Methodist Church, Piqua. He was a life member of the Amvets, Bradford, OH. Charles enjoyed Salmon fishing in Canada for many years. He loved the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Cincinnati Bengals and the Cincinnati Reds. Charles loved to cook and was a foodie. He was employed as a machinist at A.O. Smith in Tipp City for over 40 years, where he retired in 2011. Charles proudly served his Country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

A Celebration of Charles life will be held Friday January 25, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at MELCHER-SOWERS FUNERAL HOME, Piqua, with Rev. Eugene Phelps officiating. Burial will follow at Miami Memorial Park, Covington, OH, with honors presented by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Family will receive friends Thursday 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
